Google Maps API

Stores with store locator plugins are advising us that their Google maps are no longer working on the frontend of their website.

This is not a hosting or development issue it is actually caused by Google maps changing their API platforms.

To reset this you need to apply as a business owner for a new Google MaP API  key.

Authenticating your application using an API key
  1. Go to the Google Cloud Platform Console.
  2. From the Project drop-down menu, select the project created for you when you purchased the Premium Plan. …
  3. From the Navigation menu, select APIs & Services > Credentials.
  4. On the Credentials page, click Create credentials > API key.

Documentation can be found here on the Google Maps Platform Site.

This will not only affect Magento stores it will also occur in Word Press and static html sites, any sites using the Google API for maps.
