Testing Email Config in Magento
Testing email config is an important task if you are having problems receiving emails. You can test your email configuration by php.
If you are having problems with receiving emails from your magento, you can check the email by creating a php file (name it testmail.php) with the following:
$to = ‘email@example.com’; //Change this address with your real address
$subject = ‘Email subjext’;
$message = ‘Email body text’;
//Change this two addresses with valid email addresses
$headers = ‘From: firstname.lastname@example.org’ . “\r\n” .
‘Reply-To: email@example.com’ . “\r\n” .
‘X-Mailer: PHP/’ . phpversion();
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
Then go to http://www.domain.com/testmail.php and in a few seconds you are going to receive this email in your inbox if everything goes well.
This is a Magento email config test only and will not work on other software.
If you do not receive the email then it could be a server related problem and please contact support on live chat.
